Foothills Phase 3 and Fifty Road Construction
Fall 2022
Reed Richardson
Residential, Earthworks and Road Reconstruction
Foothills and Fifty Road was a private job with a cost share portion for the external works from the City of Hamilton. The overall scope of the project was $4 million at close and included 1,080 metres of sanitary sewer, 900 metres of storm sewer, 900 metres of watermain with 9,500 metres of road construction. This project, with an internal and external works portion of the site, came with its challenges as there were changes to the drawings from the city while the roadway was closed, along with a 60 metre Jack and Bore requirement underneath a CN Rail line. Tremendous coordination and direction on site of revisions and changing scopes were essential in order to meet the road closure deadlines. With the Jack and Bore installation of the 675mm diameter sanitary sewer, the crews had to ensure the line and grade was met at the other end. With some field fitting and re-calculating, everything aligned correctly and the road was completed and re-opened before the holiday closures.
