Career: Project Accountant
As a Project Accountant, you will be responsible for the day-to-day job cost accounting, working with Project Managers to help with invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and working closely with the company’s Controller.
As a Project Accountant, your responsibilities are, but not limited to:
- Work with project managers to set up new projects in the system
- Set up new vendors and new customers in the system
- Receive vendor, equipment repair, and overhead invoices
- Match invoices to purchase orders
- Code, obtain approval, and entry of approved invoices
- Maintain electronic and paper files
- Prepare regular check runs and electronic payments
- Prepare supporting schedules for project progress draw
- Enter approved progress draw and ensure timely payment
- Preparation of time and material billing
- Providing customers with statutory declaration and updated WSIB clearance certificate
- Ensuring that holdback billings are completed in a timely manner
- Ensure past due accounts are resolved in a timely manner
- Preparation of bank deposits
- Office administration duties as requested
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Minimum three years’ experience in accounting (construction preferred)
- Strong organization and communication skills
- Ability to focus on the task at hand and meet deadlines
- Proven attention to detail
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
